The Bridge is a Kingdom-minded ministry with the DNA of multiplication. Our ministry motto of “be one | make one” encompasses our desire that everyone in our ministry is committed to being a disciple and also to producing new disciples. This same passion is what fuels our desire to plant new churches! (After all, we ourselves were a church plant!) Since our beginning in 2010, we have been dedicated to planting and supporting church plants. We have had several church planting opportunities with 3 of our most recent being: Voyage Church, The Living Well, and Converge Community.WHAT'S NEXT? With much prayer and planning we are excited to announce THE BRIDGE - VICKSBURG, our next church planting opportunity - launching January 2024. This new campus will be the start of our new "multi-site" church model. The Bridge church will now be one church | two locations. The Vicksburg campus will continue to be part of The Bridge Portage! Both locations will fall under the same leadership structure, budget process, etc. The Vicksburg campus will have their own staff, with Jason and Wendy Caster (Vicksburg Residents) leading the way.
Previous Church Planting Efforts at The Bridge
Before the above mentioned "multi-site" church model, we planted churches in several local neighborhoods. Our desire is to continuously be raising up leaders and sending groups of people to plant new kingdom outposts (churches) in every direction. We used a clear process to accomplish that goal.We would hire a church planter for a 6-9 month residency. The person is fully supported on staff inside The Bridge Portage ministry. This relational and DNA immersion is essential preparation for the Launch phase. We hand the planter a physical green flag in front of our congregation with the goal that 100+ people from within The Bridge would go with the planter to a new location to establish a new ministry. This strong nucleus of people will spend the next 6-9 months forming a passionate prayerful evangelistically minded Launch Team. When ready, that group targets an area, location, name, and strategy to start a new church. The Bridge then gets to celebrate and support as this Launch Team activates and completes preview services and begins a new independent ministry.
